Flight Delayed

Standing in the airport lounge, waiting for my plane
All too soon I’ll be on the move again
Suspicious objects hidden in my case
Walking past the customs desk my pulse begins to race
Men and women stand around me staring at their shoes
Going on holiday and business trips, anywhere they choose

But they don’t realise
As we rise into the skies
That the flight will be delayed
Crossing the sea
The flight will be delayed
Permanently

Sitting in the airplane seat my hands begin to sweat
I’ve already fastened my seatbelt, though we haven’t taken off yet
The hostess moves among us, offering food and drink
She smiles at me, I close my eyes, I’m trying not to think
The engines roar, we’re gaining speed, the wheels are turning round
I feel vibrations through the seat as we slowly leave the ground

But they don’t comprehend
That this will be the end
Coz the flight will be delayed
Crossing the sea
The flight will be delayed
Permanently
